The 2023-24 Houston Rockets have been drastically different than what was expected, as they currently sit eighth in the Western Conference, after being one of the worst teams in the league for the last three seasons. The Rockets have secured wins against legitimate contenders, such as the Sacramento Kings and Los Angeles Lakers and currently have the fourth-best defense in the league.

The Rockets also rank eighth in net rating through 13 games. And although the Rockets have six losses on the season, each of their games have been competitive (excluding the season-opener).

5 reasons for Rockets fans to be thankful

Not everything has been perfect, of course, as Jalen Green hasn’t quite taken the third-year leap that many players take. Green is averaging 19.2 points, 4.4 rebounds, 2.9 assists, and a measly 40.9 percent from the floor.

Green’s efficiency is at a career low, as he’s shooting 53.8 percent true shooting, while holding an effective field goal percentage of 47.5 percent.

In spite of Green’s concerning play, the Rockets and their fans alike have reason for optimism and excitement. As today is Thanksgiving, let’s take a look at five things the Rockets should be thankful for.
