6 Free agents who should be on Rockets' wish list
The Houston Rockets' 2023-24 campaign has largely been a success, as the team has been significantly better than what we've seen in past seasons. Sure, the Rockets will almost certainly not be competing in the postseason, which was the franchise's preseason goal, but they've also not been fully healthy.
With 17 games remaining, the franchise has gone 30-35- their first time crossing the 30 win mark since 2019-20. The Rockets will look to build upon the roster in the offseason and will likely have the non-taxpayer mid-level exception at their disposal.
The Rockets could spend their full MLE without reaching the tax threshold. With that being said, let's take a look at several free agents from this upcoming class that should be on the Rockets' list of targets.
6. Talen Horton-Tucker
The Rockets have been eyeing Talen Horton-Tucker for several years and reportedly explored trading for him prior to the start of the season. THT definitely has his limitations but he's still just 23-years-old.
He's not much of a shooter (although he's improved his 3-point stroke to 33 percent this season), which presents spacing issues. This also means defenses will sag off, allowing him to take that shot.
THT is also not efficient from the mid-range. He's a plus defender though, who has a 7-foot-1 wingspan (although he gets blown by far too often, due to his hefty build).
THT is also a good driver, who uses his physicality to get to the cup. Not to mention his playmaking chops.
It wouldn't be a bad idea to gamble on THT's youth and upside this summer, especially considering the surely low cost it will take to land him.
