Cory Joseph, unrestricted

The connection: Ime Udoka was part of the San Antonio Spurs coaching staff during 2012-15 seasons

With a need at the point guard position, even if they drafted one of the highly-touted lead guards in this year's NBA Draft class, it would be smart if the Rockets looked to add one veteran option in free agency. One player that would make sense for the team is Cory Joseph, who could be good as a spot starter or as a leader off the bench for the Rockets.

Joseph played with the Pistons this past season but played a minimal role due to the young players that the team was trying to develop down the stretch. Neverthless, even at this point in his career, Joseph could be viewed as a valuable asset. And as an unrestricted free agent, he could be in play as a cheaper veteran option for a team like the Rockets.

Again, Joseph is unlikely to be a priority for the Rockets but could emerge as a target as they look to fill out their roster later during the offseason. Joseph is coming off a season in which he averaged seven points and four assists on 39 percent shooting from 3-point range.
