Hawks vs. Rockets NBA expert prediction and odds for Wednesday, Dec. 20
By Peter Dewey
The Houston Rockets are back at home on Wednesday, and they’ll look to keep up their insane record at Toyota Center when they host the Atlanta Hawks.
The Hawks have underachieved a bit this season, starting 11-15, but they could get back on track against a Houston team that has lost two in a row.

Hawks vs. Rockets key players to watch
Atlanta Hawks
Trae Young: Young is on a crazy run, scoring 30 or more points and dishing out 10 or more dimes in four straight games. He’s pushed his season averages to 28.1 points and 11.0 assists per game while shooting 37.8 percent from 3.
Houston Rockets
Fred VanVleet: This is a big matchup for veteran guard Fred VanVleet, as he’s likely going to draw either Trae Young or Dejounte Murray as his assignment, and the team will need him to produce on offense as well. FVV is coming off a 27-point game against Cleveland.
Hawks vs. Rockets prediction and pick
There isn’t a better home team in the NBA than the Houston Rockets, as they are 10-1-1 ATS at home, dominating in those games with a +12.8 average margin of victory.
This could be a tough game for Atlanta, who let the Detroit Pistons hang around on Monday. The Hawks are just 5-9 ATS on the road this season, and I’m going to fade them here with three rotation players potentially out in Griffin, Johnson and Bogdanovic.
Ime Udoka’s team defends at a high level, and the Rockets have lost just one game at home this season. They should be able to cover this short spread.
