Houston Rockets: J.J. Redick Believes Eric Gordon is the Best Trade Deadline Target

Former NBA player, current ESPN pundit, and host of The Old Man and the Three podcast, J.J. Redick, believes Houston Rockets' guard Eric Gordon is the best available player for a contender at the trade deadline. In a recent episode of The Old Man and the Three, Redick spoke glowingly of Gordon as he discussed the NBA's upcoming trade deadline.

The conversation started with P.J. Tucker's impact in the Milwaukee Buck's title run last season. Clearly, Redick has a thing for the Rockets because he instantly began talking about Eric Gordon as this trade deadline's next P.J. Tucker.

Reddick would go on to explain why he rates Gordon as the best target for a title contender.

""[Eric Gordon], despite some dysfunction, despite some losing, has been an absolute pro this year in Houston. His numbers are good, his efficiency numbers are good, we know he can guard, we know he can space the floor, we know he can be a tertiary or secondary option on offense.""

Redick's analysis of Gordon's season is spot on and should be music to Rockets fans' ears. Gordon is averaging 14.8 points per game on 50.6% shooting from the field and 45.2% from 3-point range. If it wasn't for his 73.8% free throw shooting, Gordon would be challenging to be the tenth member of the famed 50-40-90 club.

Redick also astutely added that players with Gordon's skillset tend to be the most sought-after targets at the trade deadline.
