5 Kenyon Martin Jr. trades that give Rockets more flexibility

4. Pacers target Martin to fill a need
The Pacers are said to be looking for wing help this offseason. They added Jarace Walker in the draft, but are interested in Harrison Barnes and De’Andre Hunter, according to Fischer. Could they look at Kenyon Martin Jr. as a cheaper alternative to those veterans?
Indiana is hoping to exit a rebuild and get back to contention with Tyrese Haliburton leading their charge. He is one of the best shot-creators in the league and could open up looks for Martin.
The 6’6 wing struggled from long-range last season, but he has shown promise in his first two years. Pacers head coach Rick Carlisle has helped several players improve their jumpers, and Martin could join that list if he heads to Indiana.
After missing the playoffs three straight years, the Pacers are unlikely to part with a first-round pick for KJ Martin, but they would be willing to give up two seconds if they fail to land Barnes or Hunter. Indiana fills a need as the Rockets gain a bit more cap flexibility to add pieces this summer.
Moving Martin may not be enough. The Houston Rockets could look to add a role player and move up off multiple contracts in hopes of signing a second or third marquee free agent.
