Should the Houston Rockets "run it back"?

It's one of the most discussed topics around the team. Should the Rockets take a major swing at a win-now star? Or, should they stay the course and value continuity?

It's a tough call. Still, even if you land on the side of continuity, you can't expect the whole roster back. The Rockets will inevitably lose - and gain - some players.

It seems like they might lose Aaron Holiday.

Houston Rockets beat reporter says Holiday will leave team

The Athletic's Kelly Iko is under the impression that Holiday is a goner.

That makes sense. Holiday signed a one-year, $2.3 million deal with the Rockets last summer. He outperformed his contract. Holiday isn't going to command major money anywhere, but he is likely to find a moderate raise.

Should the Rockets give it to him?

Houston Rockets can afford to move on from Holiday

Ultimately, it's a fairly inconsequential decision.

Holiday played 16.3 minutes per game last season. The Rockets would need to replace his 38.7% three-point shooting. That floor spacing was integral to a notoriously poor team at shooting.

Still, that shooting can be replaced. Frankly, it may be better suited coming from a slightly different player. Holiday is a ball-handler by nature. Rockets fans were at times frustrated with his tendency to command the rock at the expense of younger players like Amen Thompson and Jalen Green.

A player like Malik Beasley or Luke Kennard may better serve this core. Even slotting Reed Sheppard into Holiday's spot would be interesting. Sheppard may struggle to replicate Holiday's all-around impact as a rookie, but it wouldn't be shocking to see him exceed 38.7% from long-range.

Either way, the Rockets should be grateful for the time Holiday spent on the roster. Who knows? They may even bring him back.

...Long live the Aaron Holiday era?
