After having an impactful rookie season, Houston Rockets forward Tari Eason enters the 2023-24 season with high expectations. At least from basketball observers and analysts.
Eason showed out in the Summer League, to the tune of 23 points, 9.5 rebounds, 4 assists, and 3 blocks and was deemed to essentially be too good to continue playing in the summer showcase. Eason is expected to have a big role under Rockets coach Ime Udoka, who is a guru on the defensive end of the floor, which is where Eason wreaks havoc.
The second-year forward has displayed that during the preseason also, particularly against the New Orleans Pelicans, as he had three steals in a two-minute window in the second quarter. Eason's all-around play in the preseason has been encouraging, as he averaged 9.5 points, 6 rebounds, 2.5 steals, 1.5 assists, 72.7 percent from field, and 50 percent from three-in the Rockets' opening two preseason games.
Houston Rockets injury news comes from unlikely source
However, Eason has been hampered by an injury of late, which has caused him to miss the Rockets' final three preseason games. Furthermore, Eason could miss the Rockets' opener next Wednesday against the Orlando Magic, at least according to his mom, who would seem to be a reliable source.
He’s not playing tonight. They’re gonna take care of him better than he would himself and I appreciate them for it! He’s bummed about tonight. Orlando isn’t on the menu. We gotta play Miami and he will not be out there, but we will be winning! Lol https://t.co/ITvxKa7HwJ

As for the specifics of the injury, Mama Eason has you covered there also. (Again, she would seem to know these things).
Just a gnarly deep bruise; smartly they sat him. Peso never stops. When he was 11 doc said no activity during soft tissue growing pains. I heard he was playing at school and snitched. They put him in a full leg cast to immobilize him. He didn’t talk for 2 days😂 true story.💪🏾 https://t.co/nu574yEO0S

And what about how the injury intensified in the days after the initial injury? Ms. Eason has you covered there also.
I miss it man. He coming back stronger. Man’s took his whole leg and as the days went on that bruise got more and more sore. Bummed. Y’all know he woulda gave all 82 again.🫶🏾 https://t.co/iS25Vv4Zke

As a side note, if you're on Twitter (or X, or whatever floats your boat) and you aren't following Eason's mom, you should change that. In fact, I'll make it easy for you and give you her Twitter handle- @teroyaeason.
Not only is she going to have any injury-related news regarding her son, she's also a very knowledgeable basketball fan. And she holds her son to the highest level of accountability.
In other words, she's a great one to have in the Rockets' fanbase.
