Quentin Grimes: Unrealistic

Quentin Grimes has been the subject of trade rumors, as New York Knicks coach Tom Thibodeau has squeezed him out of the rotation after adding Immanuel Quickley and OG Anunoby. Grimes is a reliable 3-point shooter (36.3 percent in 2023-24 and 38.6 percent in 2022-23) and is also reliable on the other end of the floor.

However, Grimes is the Knicks' best trade chip and they're in win-now mode, which hurts the Rockets, as they don't have any win-now players to give them. And they won't exactly be moved by draft picks, because they already have four first-round picks through 2025 (three in 2024 and one in 2025).

Their goal is to to use him to acquire someone worthwhile for the long term, which doesn't meet what the Rockets would be giving up.

And the Rockets own the Brooklyn Nets' first round picks, which are too valuable to burn for a role player like Grimes anyways. For these reasons, I wouldn't expect a deal between the Rockets and Knicks.
