1. Amen Thompson

We have high hopes for Thompson. His 2023-24 rookie season engendered a lot of confidence.

Thompson's 1.8 Box Plus/Minus (BPM) from last year was comfortably the highest mark any Rockets rookie has posted during this rebuild. It was the third-highest of any rookie in 2023-24, after Victor Wembanyama and Chet Holmgren. Holmgren will likely join Thompson on Team USA in 2028, while Wembanyama is already on Team France.

As with the other young players on this list, we don't know what Thompson's role will be. If he can't develop his jump shot, it may be difficult for him to be a primary ball-handler. Still, Thompson established that he can be a useful player in a different role as a rookie.

We think he'd be useful on Team USA as well.
