Prior to the arrival of James Harden in 2012, the Houston Rockets were stuck in mediocrity, which is the worst place to be in professional sports. The Rockets were too good to land a lottery pick but weren't good to make a deep postseason run; again, no team wants to be stuck there.

Former GM Daryl Morey swung for the fences and landed Harden from the OKC Thunder, with hopes of making him the franchise player. The results were astounding.
