3. Carmelo Anthony

In terms of disappointment, Anthony may be the worst signing in Rockets history.

Rumors had long linked him to the team. Anthony was supposed to be the third star that solidified the Rockets' championship odds along with Harden and Chris Paul. When he finally landed in Space City, nothing went according to plan.

It seemed that Anthony couldn't shake his habit of dribbling into midrange jumpers instead of taking threes. That didn't suit Mike D'Antoni when they were together in New York. Now that Anthony wasn't a franchise player, D'Antoni could act on his preferences.

In total, Anthony started 8 games for Houston, suited up for 2 more games, and he was released. Still, there have been worse signings in Rockets history. Anthony's deal was inconsequential, even if banking on his production largely destroyed Houston's 2018-19 season.
