Ranking the 6 best draft picks in modern Houston Rockets history
3. Clint Capela
Remember when the Rockets signed Dwight Howard? He was meant to compliment James Harden, who they'd traded for. Historically, this is how the Rockets have preferred to build their roster.
In time, the marriage between Harden and Howard soured. Howard wasn't satistfied operating as a roll man and catching lobs from Harden. Luckily for the Rockets, Clint Capela was more than happy to fill that role.
In fact, he was a prolific pick-and-roll finisher. The 25th pick in the 2014 draft, Capela took over starting duties for the Rockets during the 2017-18 season. He averaged 13.9 points, 10.8 rebounds and 1.9 blocks, and never looked back.
Capela's primary value for the Rockets came from his rim protection. Eventually, his inability to shoot made him a poor fit alongside Russell Westbrook. The Rockets traded Capela for Robert Covington. During the following summer, the entire team would fall apart.
