Ranking the 6 best draft picks in modern Houston Rockets history
1. Cuttino Mobley
Somewhere in a gym, a grey-bearded Cuttino Mobley just sunk a defended midrange shot. Even at the age of 48, Mobley has got game.
So, it's hard to imagine how so many teams overlooked him in 1998. The Rockets nabbed him with the 48th pick in the draft. He'd be a mainstay as Francis' backcourt partner for years to come.
His best season with the club came in 2001-02. Mobley averaged 21.7 points per game. He was also somewhat ahead of the game - Mobley sunk 39.5 of his 5.1 three-pointers per game during that season.
Eventually, Mobley would be included in the trade that brought Tracy McGrady to the Rockets. Still, he spent the first six seasons of his career in Houston. In the process, he established himself as the best draft class in this franchise's recent history.
