7. Tari Eason
Eason was the 17th overall pick in the 2022 draft, and he showed plenty of flashes during his rookie campaign. The 21-year-old averaged 9.3 points, 6.0 rebounds, 1.2 steals, and 0.6 blocks in 21.5 minutes per game while appearing in all 82 contests.
Eason shot 34.3 percent from 3-point range, and the 6’8 forward can be a versatile and switchable defender. His future is certainly bright, and he has three years left on his rookie contract.
Could the Rockets look to trade him this summer? Eason only averaged 27.0 minutes per game over the final 23 contests because he is playing behind Jabari Smith Jr. and Alperen Sengun.
Houston could look to upgrade on the wing this summer, and it will be difficult to continue giving significant minutes to all their young players if they want to jump into contention.
Would a rebuilding team be willing to overpay for Eason’s potential? 6’8 forwards that can guard multiple positions and sink open shots are hard to find and always have value.
Tari Eason needs time to develop, but he could be a key stretch four on a contender after a few years of seasoning. Are the Houston Rockets willing to wait or do they move on? Eason will keep getting better whether he stays or gets traded this summer.
