Daishen Nix was getting a lot of hype from the Rockets as we came into the Summer League, but now it seems like the backup point guard role could be up for grabs.

Training camp can't get here soon enough for the Rockets.

As nice as it has been to get to see some of the young guys play overseas as we can slightly evaluate what they can do, we all know this isn't the real thing.

Rockets basketball is close, though, and it is sure to be a topsy-turvy season as we are going to see plenty of surprising changes in the early months with such a young team.

One player that is going to get an extra long look under the microscope is guard Daishen Nix.

After spending the 2021-2022 season with the Rio Grande Valley Vipers, Nix was joining the Rockets with an extra level of excitement. Nix looked good to great during his time in the G League, and being able to find any way to recreate that success in the NBA is going to give Houston yet another talented guard to work with in their rotation.

However, Nix is not the only guard on this roster that is looking to make a name for himself. TyTy Washington was able to put together a great Summer League performance and was also able to show a lot of people why his selection by the Rockets could be one of the better value picks in the class.

This should put Nix and Washington in a direct competition for that rotational guard spot, and that should make for some very entertaining basketball for Rockets fans that should also help the team greatly in the end.

We're going to have to see greatness from Nix to keep his spot as it is currently slated to be.
