Alperen Sengun is starting to get a lot of attention from the NBA world as the Rockets inch closer to a world without Christian Wood. Let's hope he can reach this lofty comparison.

Here we are again with more Alperen Sengun talk as the Houston Rockets near the 2022 NBA Draft.

Is Houston going to find a trade partner for Christian Wood? Are they going to try to draft a center if the price is right? Could Alperen Sengun take over as the starter at the five even if Wood stays on the team?

All of these are valid questions as the Rockets try to figure out what type of team they are going to be and who their proven players are.

One has to assume that will entail giving more reps to the big man hailing from Turkey as Houston does some more on-the-fly evaluation of their roster.

Could Sengun pop as a starter? Several NBA executives seem to think so in a quote from Ryan Hollins.

Being spoken about in the same breath as Nikola Jokic and Marc Gasol is extremely flattering for a guy that only has a few starts under his belt at this stage of his career. Still, everyone sure seems to love the upside that Sengun brings as a project piece, and his two counterparts in the quote had even less hype surrounding their entrances to the NBA.

Before anyone gets too far ahead of themselves, having a career close to either player would be a massive accomplishment for Sengun. While we probably shouldn't expect back-to-back MVPs or anything like that, Sengun does have the makings to be an All-Star if he plays his cards right.

It is important to approach Sengun's career with a healthy amount of fairness before we put him on an All-NBA team his yet, but it is also becoming more clear by the day from people in positions of power than Rockets fans are going to have a fun year watching their young players develop.

Next. Colin Cowherd is laughably wrong about Rockets PG John Wall. dark
