Rockets have a chance to continue their offensive dominance vs the Celtics

While the Celtics have played alright so far this season, another win could be a huge momentum-builder for the Rockets.

As the Houston Rockets have scrawled out a 2-2 record through their first four games, the team has seen both highs and lows, with their offense oscillating between stagnancy and explosiveness as they attempt to sort out life without starting point guard Fred VanVleet.

Yet, as the team heads towards a Saturday night matchup against the Boston Celtics, they will have an opportunity to continue their upward trajectory, and another dominant offensive night could position them well for the tough week they have ahead.

Through the Celtics' first six games they have posted a 3-3 record, and their matchup against the Rockets will be the second leg of a back-to-back, after their victory last night over the Philadelphia 76ers, 109-108. While they have not looked quite as disastrous as many presumed they would this year, Houston must take advantage of their weaknesses in order to establish their first winning record of the season.

The Rockets could be headed to Boston at exactly the right time

With Jayson Tatum likely to miss the entire season with an Achilles injury he suffered last postseason, and the team having dumped both Jrue Holiday and Kristaps Porzingis for financial purposes this past offseason, many expected that the Celtics were in line for a serious step back this season.

Yet, through the team's first six games, they haven't actually looked all that rough. To be certain, the team lacks a certain amount of depth and versatility with Jaylen Brown as their number one guy, but they have placed respectably in both offensive and defensive rating so far (8th in both categories).

Their recent victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers was impressive, as they held one of the most dynamic offenses in the league, albeit missing one of their star guards in Darius Garland, to just 105 points on the night

Houston, however, has started to find their offensive form recently with dominant wins over the Brooklyn Nets and the Toronto Raptors in their past two games. Both Kevin Durant and Alperen Sengun have looked incredibly effective, and, as Amen Thompson and Reed Sheppard have cleaned up their play a bit, the team has done a better job at limiting turnovers and moving the ball effectively.

Moreover, this could be a game for the Rockets' size to play a huge part in. Boston's center rotation currently consists of Neemias Queta and Luka Garza, and, although Queta is no small specimen at seven-foot even, Houston will still have a chance to dominate the glass with both Sengun and Steven Adams on the court.

With a slate next week that includes the Dallas Mavericks, the Memphis Grizzlies, and their first NBA Cup game against the San Antonio Spurs, the Rockets need a victory in order to carry the momentum they have garnered into their first real test of the season.

The Celtics could provide the perfect opportunity for them to do so.
