Rockets' Kevin Durant problem could be solved by Bucks' desperation

Milwaukee allegedly has some interest in Durant and the desperation to offer a big trade package.

After a disappointing playoff exit, the Rockets should look to make some major changes, including trading away Kevin Durant. Durant's trade value is difficult to gauge considering his age and salary, but the Milwaukee Bucks may be the perfect team to offer the Rockets a solid trade package for Durant. The Bucks are desperate to add win-now talent to their roster, even at the cost of developing young players, so they may be willing to send back pieces that fit better with Houston's timeline.

The Bucks are looking for someone like Kevin Durant

The major story surrounding Milwaukee this entire season has been the Bucks' ongoing trade saga with superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo. The team doesn't have much talent outside of Giannis, and trading him would probably be mutually beneficial for both sides. But neither wants to initiate the trade talks out of intense mutual loyalty; Giannis has reiterated that he would prefer to compete for a title in Milwaukee.

Adding a player of Durant's caliber would be enough to shut down Giannis trade talks and build the Bucks towards legitimate contention. In return, the Rockets would hopefully get depth pieces, promising young talent and potentially draft capital too. They hope to see the positive side effects of trading Durant that other teams have experienced.

Milwaukee has pieces that the Rockets could use

The Bucks also have some perfect pieces which complement the Rockets' young core. Chief among them is Ryan Rollins, who grew into a very solid point guard this season. At just age 23 years old, Rollins averaged 17 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists per game while shooting 47% from the field and 41% from three. Not only does Rollins have a good offensive skillset, but he can also lock in defensively to boost the Rockets' best attributes.

Rollins is the same age as Alperen Sengun and Amen Thompson, so he could develop alongside them and eventually build Houston into a proper contender. The Rockets are missing a young point guard to lead their offense, and Rollins can give them just that. But the Bucks also have other underrated pieces that could fit perfectly in Houston.

In order to make salaries match, the Bucks would also need to include Kyle Kuzma and Myles Turner. Both had disappointing seasons for Milwaukee, but could be unlocked in Houston with better defensive personnel around them. Despite their struggles, both are respectable 3-point shooters and can give the Rockets better spacing around their core players.

If you add in a first-round pick or two, Milwaukee's trade package for Durant could be hard to resist. It would give both teams exactly what they want - the Bucks get a reason for Giannis to stay and the Rockets get a more well-rounded team.
