Rockets can thank Giannis Antetokounmpo for their prefect trade target

After trading away superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo, the Bucks should be open to offers for other players on the roster - and one could be a perfect fit in Houston. Milwaukee's AJ Green has developed into one of the league's best shooters over the last couple seasons but could find himself available for trade as the Bucks enter a rebuild.

Green would instantly be a great fit for the Rockets

The Rockets can swoop in to grab him and add some much-needed shooting to their roster. Green would be a perfect complement for the Rockets' slew of defenders with limited shooting elsewhere. He has an incredible blend of efficiency and volume from deep, while also being able to create open looks for teammates in clever ways using his gravity.

Even in an extremely down year last season for the Bucks, Green had a huge impact on his team. The Bucks offensive rating was nearly 6 points better with him on the court than off. Seemingly all of the Bucks' best lineups included him, because of his ability to fit next to any combination of teammates. Even with Giannis barely playing, Green was able to elevate his teammates to more respectable outcomes.

Green's elite shooting might even help the Rockets overcome their general lack of playmaking on the roster. Although Green isn't an advanced on-ball creator himself, he's always in motion and using the threat of his shooting to draw defensive attention. And considering that he hit 42% of his 7.1 three-point attempts per game last season, defenses must respect him and allow open lanes for others.

There could be a bidding war for Green

Although Green isn't a high-profile household name, his value as a role player should be obvious around the NBA. He's done a great job developing in Milwaukee as his scoring has gone up from 7 points per game in the season prior to 10 points per game last season. His defense is also passable for a shooter of his magnitude.

If the Bucks do announce his trade availability, the Rockets won't be the only team interested. Since Green is on a fairly team-friendly contract (4 years and $45 million) many contenders should have room to acquire him. Other teams looking to break through their playoff ceiling with more shooting will also take a long hard look at Green.

Take for example teams like the Pistons and Timberwolves, who have many of the same weaknesses as the Rockets. Both should be interested in Green as well. If he does get put on the trading block, the Rockets should act swiftly and make sure they have a competitive trade package with future assets - hopefully something like a pair of second-round picks could get the job done.
