Even with the lack of star power in Clutch City, the Houston Rockets are not giving up on their championship aspirations.

As the hype of the NBA’s free agency period fades, the Houston Rockets are still looking to make moves to upgrade their roster. Even though Eric Gordon, Ryan Anderson, and Nenê are great additions, the lack of depth at the point guard position remains.

With Rajon Rondo, Mike Conley, and Deron Williams off the market, Matt Moore of CBS Sports believes that Bayou City could be a potential destination for Thunder’s All-Star Russell Westbrook.

"Harden and Westbrook together again! Westbrook in a Mike D’Antoni offense! Harden and Westbrook taking turn giving half-effort on defense! The Rockets have all their first-rounders to offer past this season, plus Ryan Anderson and Eric Gordon (if the trade is done mid-season), though they’re on big contracts. They could also give up Clint Capela and other veteran components."

Since Kevin Durant‘s departure from Oklahoma City, the organization has made multiple headlines regarding trade destinations for Westbrook. Like most Rockets fans, it would be great to see Daryl Morey reunite Westbrook with James Harden. A backcourt that features Bodie and the Beard can create one of the most fierce duos in sports history.

Unfortunately, a trade for Westbrook is a long shot. In the words of Moore, there’s probably not enough talent here to get the Thunder interested, especially after having to give up Harden to Houston. But the idea is interesting.

Regardless of the lack of star power in Houston, the expectations for the Rockets are still high. So much so, Cameron Stwart of Hoops Habit believes that Harden is set for another MVP-caliber season after signing his four-year extension.

"Now, statistics aren’t everything. That’s why Harden failed to make an All-NBA team over players that he was statistically superior to. But Harden’s historic numbers last year would appear to only get better in this upcoming season under , known for innovating the modern NBA offense and for his breakneck pace. Under D’Antoni and his high-paced offense, players have a history of seeing their numbers increase. Mike D’Antoni"

As Harden and the Rockets prepare to improve off last season’s disappointments, they will have to do so without Dwight Howard.

In case you been living under a rock, Superman decided to take flight and head home to Atlanta. As Howard prepares to start a new beginning with the Hawks, D12 took the time to thank Rockets owner Leslie Alexander and the city of Houston for an amazing three years in Clutch City.

Although he failed to live up to his championship promise, it’s kind of sad knowing that Howard will no longer suit up for the Rockets next season. Good luck in Atlanta Dwight, and thank you for everything!
