The Houston Rockets added draft picks and signed free agents to improve upon an especially mediocre 41-41 campaign. Big man Dwight Howard left for Atlanta while free agents Ryan Anderson, Eric Gordon, Nene Hilario and Pablo Prigioni joined Houston in free agency.

Therefore Houston hopes their free agent additions and the growth of existing assets will translate into a season similar to 2014-15. While fans wait for  October 26th opening night versus the Lakers hopefully this series will appease your cravings.

To that end, this series showcases the Rockets 82 games noting the pregame analysis, post game grades, and relevant video. Furthermore, SCS will highlight significant changes made by their opponents this summer. So, here it is – – enjoy all 82 posts as SCS takes you back over the 2015-16 season.

Pregame Analysis:

Due to entering the game on a 4-game win streak the Houston Rockets definitely took the Nets for granted.  While the loss to the Nuggets to start the season hinted at what was to come  this loss to the Nets showcased just how deep the turmoil was in Houston.

Post Game Analysis:

Hindsight is 20-20 because this loss to the Nets demonstrated just how much trouble was brewing in Houston.

In spite of the loss Dwight Howard did have an impressive showing with 20 points, 17 rebounds and 5 blocks. Still his efforts weren’t enough to help the Rockets.

Stat Leaders:

Coty Davis provided the following player grades in his post game assessments:

C. Houston Rockets. DWIGHT HOWARD. A. 20 points, 17 rebounds, and 5 blocks- Howard had a block party in Houston Wednesday night, and everyone in Clutch City was invited.  Although it is still early in the season, it is nice to see Howard play at a high level. Hopefully he can continue to play at this level and prove why he is still the league’s best big man. Another double-double for Howard is another victory for the Rockets.

Draft Picks and Free Agents

New Nets General Manager Sean Marks has made some bold and aggressive moves in his first summer with Brooklyn. Given the little traction he has with draft picks he definitely is trying to be bold by taking some risks.  Three former Raptors (Vasquez, Scola and Bennett) have all been added which perhaps speaks to Marks belief in Masai Ujiri’s prowess at his position.

Draft Picks:

Round 1: Caris LeVert (20)

Round 2: Isaiah Whitehead (42)

Incoming Free Agents/trade:

Jeremy Lin
