Houston Rockets NBA 2K16 Ratings

Basketball’s popularity can be clearly seen with the annual release of the NBA 2K video game. This year’s edition of the game, NBA 2K16, is being released for everyone on Tuesday, September 29th and basketball fans all over the world are eagerly anticipating its release. I am a huge NBA 2K gamer, and I have never been more excited for the game’s release more than this year. Since this is a Houston Rockets blog, let’s look at how the 2k developers view the Rockets and how key players are rated in the game.

The best player on the Rockets is James Harden (what a surprise!). Harden is clearly the best player on the team in real life and is a top 5 player in the NBA. That is accurately reflected in NBA 2K16, as Harden has a rating of 92. To put that in perspective, that is the 3rd highest rating in the game, with LeBron James being a 94, Steph Curry being a 93, and Anthony Davis also being a 92.

It is interesting that Harden is rated one point higher than former MVP Kevin Durant. Although Durant struggled with injuries last season, it is hard to argue that a fully healthy Durant is worse than Harden. However, being that I will be using the Rockets a lot when playing 2K16, I am happy to see Harden rated as the superstar that he is.

The next highest rated Houston Rocket is Dwight Howard. Howard is given a rating of 85, which I think is the perfect rating for him when considering the context of other ratings in the game. The highest rated centers are Marc Gasol and DeMarcus Cousins, with both being rated 88 overall.

Given Howards injury-riddled season last year, the decrease in his rating is fair. I think Howard realizes now that he must limit himself in the regular season in order to be fully healthy for the playoffs. Maybe Howard should have been rated an 86, but again, with LeBron James being the highest rated player at 94, Dwight Howard at 85 seems just right.

Other rumored (not 100% confirmed) ratings: Ty Lawson – 81, Trevor Ariza – 77, Patrick Beverley – 76, Corey Brewer – 76, Donatas Motiejunas – 75, Terrence Jones – 75.

I think for the most part 2K got the ratings right for the Rockets. I think Motiejunas should be a 76 and Beverley should be a 77, but that’s really just nitpicking. Finally, I am interested to see how Sam Dekker and Montrezl Harrell are rated as rookies.

So there you have it. The Rockets are a very high-rated team in NBA 2K16, and many gamers will surely be using them this season.
