The Houston Rockets assigned rookie Zhou Qi to the Rio Grande Valley Vipers for their home opener tonight.

HOW AWESOME! Fans in the Rio Grande Valley will get to see Zhou Qi in action tonight for the Vipers. He was assigned on Monday by the Houston Rockets.

Zhou Qi is expected to return on Tuesday for practice in Houston, however, the Rockets don’t play until Thursday. Therefore, Zhou Qi may stay in the RGV longer to play against the Austin Spurs on Wednesday.

Moreover, this will give the rookie much needed minutes out on the court. Zhou Qi has not played even 10 minutes in any of his appearances thus far. There is a fair chance that Zhou Qi could be starting tonight for the Vipers which would be very exciting.

More Houston Rockets on the Vipers’ Roster

Troy Williams

In the Vipers’ season opener, Troy Williams put on quite a show.  Despite the Vipers’ loss to OKC Blue, Williams led with 20 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 steals, and 2 assists.

This is no surprise to the Vipers since Williams made a significant contribution during his time with the Vipers last season. I personally look forward to seeing more from him.

Demetrius Jackson

Jackson is a two-way player for the Rockets. Since the Rockets are off until Thursday, he too will be on the Vipers’ roster tonight and Wednesday.

Demetrius has played 6.6 minutes thus far for the Rockets, therefore, this will give him some much needed playing time.

TUNE IN
