Amid the Hall of Famers and superstars, the Houston Rockets have had their fair share of excellent players that only got to spend one season with them.

Just about every NBA team has had their share of stars and borderline legends on their roster that either joined them too late or just didn’t work out with them for whatever reason. Remember when Tracy McGrady wore a Spurs uniform just before retiring? Neither do I. Or when Houston Rockets legend Hakeem Olajuwon went to Toronto? Let’s not even talk about that.

The Rockets have had several such players in their time as a franchise, ranging from multiple-time All-Stars to bonafide Hall of Famers. As you’ll see, their quick departures occurred for several different reasons — sometimes with the fault lying mostly with the Rockets and sometimes the player.

Going by the traditional player positions from center to point guard, five guys stand out above the rest as the best players that spent one season with the Rockets. As a note, players that started their Rockets career this season (like Russell Westbrook) are not factored into this list.

Each player’s complete NBA career, not just their time as a Rocket, will be the determining factor for this list. Here is the all-time, one-year starting five for the Houston Rockets, starting with the point guard position.
