Houston Rockets: Golden State Warriors trade asset #2: Kelly Oubre

Kelly Oubre has had an up-and-down career. Drafted by the Atlanta Hawks number 15 in the 2015 draft before being traded to the Wizards right afterward, Oubre started slow but years two through four, saw a rise in production and overall play.

A slow start to the 2018-19 season saw him traded from the Wizards to the Phoenix Suns. Oubre had a productive two seasons with the Suns before being traded again to the Warriors.

This year Oubre has had a down first half of the season. Shooting only 43.6-percent from the field and 32.1-percent percent from beyond the arc. So you may ask why is Oubre number 2 on the list?

It is because, at only 25, Oubre has a chance to take his game to the next level. He showed with the Suns that he could at times be a dynamic offensive player.

The other issue that would have to be ironed out before any trade is an agreement on a long-term deal. Oubre is in the last year of his current contract and is an unrestricted free agent after the season.

Oubre would feel an offensive void the Rockets currently have at the small forward position if a deal can be made. Pairing Oubre and Christian Wood would give the Rockets a solid core to begin building around for the future.
