The Houston Rockets need a point guard and one of the greatest floor generals in league history, Chris Paul, could be available at a low asking price. The Rockets know what Paul can bring to the table, as they nearly reached the NBA Finals in his first season in Houston before he suffered a catastrophic hamstring injury that's left us all wondering "what-if".
At 38 years of age, Paul has shown that he's still capable of playing at a high level. Sure, the Point God's scoring has dropped off, as he only averaged 13.9 points (career low), but he also took less shots than ever before (11.3 attempts per game).
Paul is still very capable of being the floor general that he's known to be (9th in assists this past season) and again...the Rockets need a point guard. They also need a formidable defender, as newly-hired coach Ime Udoka is known for prioritizing that end of the floor.
Paul is a nine-time All-Defensive selection and even received votes this past season for the All-Defensive team (so much for being a traffic cone). Granted, it remains to be seen whether Paul would want to return to the Space City, but if he's open to it, the Rockets should also be, for several reasons.
