Every era of Houston Rockets basketball has its own look.

If you're an old head, you swear allegiance to the ketchup-and-mustard. The Rockets won back-to-back titles in their iconic red and yellow look.

Some fans came on board during the navy blue, pinstripe era. Those are some divisive jerseys. Like many NBA designs from the 90s, chances are you either love them, or you hate them.

By contrast, the modernized red, white, and black looks mostly inspire neutrality. They were an appropriate look for the James Harden era (and not so different from the Ming/McGrady days) but now, it feels like it's time for the Rockets to rebrand.

The organization may not want to let Nike supervise the rebranding. They recently released the Rockets' City Edition jerseys for the 2024-25 season:

Generally speaking, fans don't love them.

Rockets fans pan new design

Rockets X influencer @BiasedHouston posed a simple question:

"We feeling them?"

He was met with a resounding chorus of no's. Fans are not feeling them. Here's one X user asking some pertinent questions:

We're wondering the same thing.

Is Corey overreacting? Perhaps - but his reaction is hilarious. Perhaps it's not worth playing a season in that awkward green trim. The Rockets should regroup with a decent-looking jersey ahead of 2025-26.

Another user had a simpler, but equally effective reaction to the jerseys:

We get it, Cian. We feel a little sick too.

Is this the future of Rockets design?

Rockets fans shouldn't panic

No.

These are just the Rockets' City Edition jerseys for the year.

We'll level with you - we don't love them either (if you somehow missed that). Some fans are bothered by the H-Town reference, but that works for us. Our gripe is with the green trim. Yes, we understand that the Rockets wore green in San Diego.

That was a long time ago.

Call us old-fashioned, but we like a design that's in line with history. The Rockets' 2023-24 City Edition jerseys inspired a lot of fans to call for a full rebrand. They were gorgeous, and they were also referential to the navy and red color schemes of the 9i0s.

We will miss them dearly. Still - these are just this year's City Edition jerseys. They are not indicative of a long-term direction. We'd love to see the Rockets rebrand - it's long overdue. Still, we doubt any long-term changes will feature green.

If they do, we'll feel a bit sick ourselves.
